Rosemead Kiwanis is a prime factor in the success of the RIF (Reading is Fundamental) program in Rosemead schools.  This nationwide program distributes free books to lower income children in association with reading-oriented activities at sponsored schools.

Thanks to concerted effort by members of the RFK groups all eligible Rosemead and Garvey District elementary schools have participated in the RIF program for some years. Each school has a Kiwanian RIF coordinator; additionally the Muscatel Builder's Club assembles 20,000 RIF-related bookmarks annually.   Over 10,000 books are distributed annually. Many of these are picked up from the RIF warehouse and taken to Rosemead sites by RKC members. For our efforts the RKC was awarded the 2011 RIF-SoCal Champion award. A special focus report on RKC/RIF activities is available for download.

Additionally the RKC is supportive of the Kiwanis International BUG (Bringing Up Grades) program, student tutoring, and after school reading clubs.
