Treat the Hungry

The
Rosemead Public Safety Business Unit is having its 1st Annual
“Treat the Hungry” Holiday canned food
drive (please see attached file). In the spirit of giving during this
Holiday Season, we are asking for your support to help donate a bag of
canned food to help the less fortunate families. The food items will be
donated to People for People in Rosemead.
The Rosemead Neighborhood Watch Block Captains are
asking neighbors to help out. If you have not been approached by someone
and would like to help out this great cause you can still help. Simply bag
the food items into a brown or plastic bag and attach the half slip from
the attached flyer for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to Wal-Mart.
You may drop it off at the Public
Safety Center
by or before December 17.

[Editor’s note: the following information regarding Rosemead’s
People for People program, which has been supported by our KEY Club
volunteers in the past, was taken from the Internet:
“In
March 1984 People for People opened their doors to low income families,
elderly, unemployed, homeless, and those who do not qualify for other
programs and reside in the cities of Alhambra, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San
Gabriel, Temple City and the unincorporated areas. Recipients can obtain
food items (canned, dry, bread, dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables, and some
fresh meats and frozen foods when available) and clothing from the thrift
store when in need. The center is staffed by a part-time director and
volunteers of various ages. Its support is derived from over 20 churches in
the valley, service clubs, corporations, municipalities and schools by
contributions of canned foods, funds, and volunteerism.”]
