a luncheon featuring Assemblyman (and former KEY Club member) Michael Eng
at Almansor

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 17, 2008 – ROSEMEAD PUBLIC SAFETY MEETING
Topic for this month is “School Safety for our Children. At
this meeting, residents, parents, and school officials will have an
opportunity to learn safe driving tips around school zones. There will be
an open discussion to focus on the pick up and drop off zones around
schools, driving etiquette, and safety tips on walking to and from school.
In addition, Probation Officer Gutierrez will discuss his role and
responsibilities in assisting our youth that attends either Garvey or Rosemead School District.
The meeting will be held at the Rosemead Public
Safety Center,
8301 East Garvey Avenue
(northeast corner of the intersection of Charlotte and Garvey, one block
east of San Gabriel Blvd).
Free parking is available at a lot in the adjacent Zapopan Park.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 2008 – Latino Heritage Month
2008 Recognition Ceremony will be sponsored by Assemblyman
Mike Eng’s office from 4:30-6:30 pm at the Grace
T. Black Auditorium, 3130 Tyler Avenue in El Monte as part of Latino Heritage
Month, According to an announcement from the Assemblyman’s office ten
individuals will be honored “who embody, portray or characterize the
essence of Leadership in one of the following fields: Arts, Culture,
Entertainment, Business Entrepreneurship, Civic or Community Involvement,
Education, Non-Profit Service, Youth Endeavors, Veterans Affairs, and/or
Senior Citizen Services. Not every field will necessarily be represented.”

President and Vice President of Rosemead Kiwanis. Location will be the Garvey Park Recreation
Center; special
entertainment including a magician will be featured.
