WEDNESDAY,  JULY 16, 2008 – Rosemead Safety Meeting

 

The monthly Rosemead Community Safety meeting begins at 7:00 at the Rosemead Pubic Safety Center, 8301 East Garvey Avenue (one block east of San Gabriel Blvd on the northeast corner of the intersection with Charlotte) Rosemead, CA 91770. The information telephone is  (626) 569-2290, x 224 c/o Mandy Wong. Parking will be available in the adjacent Zapopan Park parking lot. Please enter off of Garvey Avenue.

 

THURSDAY JULY 17, 2008 – RKC MEETING: Batter Up! (Regular Meeting)*

 

Speaker Jay Johnstone, former Dodger and Angel baseball star, will share some of his historical and hysterical stories of his experiences with the some seven or so baseball clubs he played for and how baseball has changed over the years from a sport to a profitable business. He hopes to bring a few souvenirs and autograph some pictures as well as any bats, gloves, or balls our members may want to bring for him to sign.

 

THURSDAY JULY 17, 2008 CHAMBER SUPERMIXER 

 

Three Chambers of Commerce (El Monte/South El Monte, Rosemead and Montebello) will host a “Super Summer Mixer” beginning at 5:30 pm. Location will be  Rosemead’s Doubletree Hotel, 888 Montebello Blvd. For further information call the Rosemead Chamber at (626) 288-0811,

 

THURSDAY JULY 24, 2008 – RKC MEETING: Maryvale (special meeting –   

Lunch at CMI with adjournment to Maryvale.

 

In conjunction with Bookends, San Gabriel Kiwanis and others, the Rosemead Kiwanis Club has been helping to develop a Reading Resource Center at Maryvale (which began operations as the Los Angeles orphanage over 150 years ago).  The center is now complete and we will be part of a July 24 open house starting at 1:30 pm on the second floor of the Laboure building. Maryvale’s address is 7600 E. Graves Avenue.  The open house is being coordinated by Maryvale’s RKC liaison, Joanie Rudesill (626/280-6510 x204), who is also the center coordinator. Our Kiwanis luncheon will be at our normal California Mission Inn location with adjournment to Maryvale at 1:10.  

 

FRIDAY JULY 25, 2008 – ROSEMEAD PARK CONCERT: Cold Duck Band

 

Live music in an atmosphere suitable for a family picnic. Bring food and a blanket and prepare to enjoy beginning at 7:00 pm as part of the bi-weekly “Rockin Rosemead Summer Concert.” Series. For further details see the band’s website at http://www.coldduck.com/theboys.shtml

TUESDAY AUGUST 5  2008 – NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

 

The City of Rosemead Public Safety Department will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of National Night Out honoring the Neighborhood Watch program. Included will be a Block Captain Recognition Award Ceremony honoring all past, present and future Rosemead “Block Captains.” Location will be the Rosemead Safety Center – see under July 16 above for directions and contact information.
