NEWS

Neighborhood Watch RejuvenationA revival of the Rosemead  Neighborhood Watch program is slated to begin with a public meeting on April 16. The meeting will be held at the Zapopan Center Sherriff’s station, 8301 E Garvey Blvd, according to Rosemead  Public Safety Services Director Don Anderson.

Rosemead Kiwanis and its sponsored clubs have been invited to be active participants in what will be an ongoing effort – an invitation enthusiastically accepted by our President –elect Bob Bruesch and other Kiwanians present at the March 27 fingerprinting session.

The original Rosemead Watch program was in the early nineties a joint project of the Kiwanis sponsored KEY Club, Rosemead Interfaith Council, Sheriff’s Department and the City of Rosemead. The story of that effort was chronicled in a 2006 Rosemead Reporter feature story which can be read here.

Neighborhood Watch is important from a Kiwanis point of view to facilitate four objectives: crime prevention, disaster preparedness, shut-in awareness, and neighborhood/ community communication.  According to 2008-2009 Kiwanis President Elect Bob Bruesch we will be making this effort a project in the forthcoming year.
