   Greetings to our K-Family (Kiwanis affiliated group of clubs) and other friends.

 

  • Below, as the third of an eight week test series. is a synopsis of current news

and events affecting Rosemead residents and workers.

NEWS

 

       After School help needed  – both volunteer and paid Are you able to help

       school age kids on either a volunteer or paid part time basis two times a week

       for three hours? Opportunities exist to share expertise in various occupations

       and skills at the elementary and junior high school levels.  For more information

       call RKC Reporter Editor Art Landing at 626/292-6550.

 

       Service Club Role in 21st Century – Service clubs, including Kiwanis, are 

       rapidly adopting non-traditional approaches to address the realities of the

       21st Century, according to a recent article in USA Today available on the

       Rosemeadkiwanis.org website. On-line meetings, husband/wife and even

       family memberships are among the approaches being used.  The RKC web-

       site and Bulletin are illustrations of this trend.

 

       Crochet Class Helping African OrphansThe Muscatel Intermediate School

       After school program’s crochet class, part of the school’s overall after school

       program, is now in its third year.  This year’s project: making caps for orphaned  

       children at an orphanage in Zambia sponsored by Capital Christian Ministries

       International. Materials are being supplied as previously by Rosemead Kiwanis.

       The completed materials will be taken to the orphanage in March as part of a trip

       by Grace Chapel pastor Mark Clark.

 

        David Sieloff Lecture – SIDO/ARK will be hosting on November 24  (see

        calendar below) the second of two archeological lectures by the director of the

        Association of Scriptural Knowledge (ASK). After having reviewed recent new

        findings regarding the position of the ancient temples in Jerusalem in part one

        of the series Mr.Sieloff in part two will reprise his recent presentation to the Los

        Angeles Archeological Society on the possible location of David’s tomb.

    Thursday, November 29 –

           Weekly Kiwanis Meeting* 12:10 – lunch and annual address by current

            Kiwanis Dist 10 Lt. Governor, Steve Golden

 

    Thursday, December 6 –

           Weekly Kiwanis Meeting* 11:45 – lunch with immediate adjournment to

           Temple Intermediate School for special award presentation by California

            Superintendent of Public Instruction.

 

    Thursday, December 13 –

            Weekly Kiwanis Meeting* 12:30 – lunch with special choral presentation

            in adjacent hall at 1:30 for CMI and general community by Temple Intermediate

            School choirs

 

    Thursday, December 20 –

            Weekly Kiwanis Meeting* 11:30 serving Xmas party for clients of Lincoln

           Training Center, 2643 Loma AvenueSouth El Monte, CA, followed by lunch

            after others have been served.

 

    Thursday, December 27 –

            Service project in lieu of meeting – Rose parade support for sponsored

            KEY (Kiwanis Educated Youth) Club members in Pasadena

 

    * - unless otherwise indicated, Kiwanis meetings are at 12:10 in California Mission

         Inn chapel’s multipurpose room, 4807 Earle (north of Mission ½ block on west

         side of street), Rosemead. Street parking is normally required.
