Rosemead Kiwanis Club

Rosemead Kiwanis meets in the multi-purpose room to the south of the Chapel of the California Mission Inn, 4807 Earle Avenue, Rosemead, CA, on Thursdays at 12:10 pm unless otherwise stated. Meetings normally feature an outside speaker or program with specifics announced by email and posted on this page of the Rosemead Kiwanis Website.

A buffet-style meal is available at a cost of $9.00 for those attending all California Mission Inn site meetings but purchase is optional for guests. Rosemead Kiwanis members have eight meals every three months incorporated into their quarterly dues and are only charged for extra meals beyond that.

In addition to the regular weekly meetings Rosemead Kiwanis holds periodic "Community Collaboration" meetings at various times and locations with K-Family and Kiwanis Network partners. Time and location of these meetings are announced via email to interested parties and posted on this page of the Rosemead Kiwanis website.

THURSDAY JULY 10, 2008 – RKC MEETING: Disaster Counseling

(Regular Meeting)*

Speaker: Lynda Harbert, M.S., MFT, Family Therapist and Emergency Situations Therapist will discuss her experiences. These include the Sept 11th Tragedy in New York and the Oklahoma City Bombing and how she had to help console the many victims and their families. She will also discuss her duties when there is a national tragedy and how fast she must prepare to get there.

FRIDAY JULY 11, 2008 – ROSEMEAD PARK CONCERT: Soto Band

WEDNESDAY, JULY 16, 2008 – Rosemead Safety Meeting

The monthly Rosemead Community Safety meeting begins at 7:00 at the Rosemead Pubic Safety Center, 8301 East Garvey Avenue (one block east of San Gabriel Blvd on the North side of the street at the intersection with Charlotte) Rosemead, CA 91770. the information telephone is (626) 569-2292, attention Mandy Wong). THURSDAY JULY 17, 2008 – RKC MEETING: Batter Up! (Regular Meeting)*

Speaker Jay Johnstone, former Dodger and Angel baseball star, will share some of his historical and hysterical stories of his experiences with the some seven or so baseball clubs he played for and how baseball has changed over the years from a sport to a profitable business. He hopes to bring a few souvenirs and autograph some pictures as well as any bats, gloves, or balls our members may want to bring for him to sign.

THURSDAY JULY 24, 2008 – RKC MEETING: Maryvale (special meeting –

location: 7600 Graves, Rosemead CA )*

In conjunction with Bookends, San Gabriel Kiwanis and others, the Rosemead Kiwanis Club has been helping to develop a Reading Resource Center at Maryvale, which began as the Los Angeles orphanage over 150 years ago. The center is now operational and we will be part of an open house, coordinated by Maryvale’s RKC liaison, Joanie Rudesill, who is also the center coordinator.

Lunch will be at the nearby Carrow’s Restaurant, 1021 San Gabriel Blvd,

Rosemead (intersection with Walnut Grove), beginning at 11:30 am, with

adjournment to Maryvale in time to arrive there at 1:00 pm.
