  MUSCATEL WINS FOURTH OLYMPIAD!

 

    For the fourth consecutive year the

   Muscatel Intermediate School's Science

   Olympiad team has won the Los Angeles

   County Science Olympiad!  We are hoping

   for a detailed special report in next week's

   RKC Reporter weekly e-mail.

  AFTERSCHOOL.NOW (DEC ISSUE )

 

   The After School Alliance has released the

   December, 2007, issue of Afterschool.now.

   A special, more easily read, .pdf edition 

   is available here. Featured are two studies

   illustrating academic gains from after-

   school programs and a $100 million

   increase in Federal funding for such

   programs.

 

  COOL STUFF-KIWANIS EDITION

 

   The Kiwanis edition of “Cool Stuff´. . .  they

   should teach in school” is now available. A

   four page special .pdf file, including history

   of the book’s background, involvement of the

   Rosemead Kiwanis Foundation in the online

 BLIND PHYSICIAN

 

  At the turn of the last century a remarkable

  blind youth in Chicago became a physician.

  Later he also became a Kiwanian. His

  remarkable story is recounted in the article

  21st Century needs, according to an article in

  Ron Esquivel and Randell Cantrell easily

  won re-election to the Rosemead School

  District board, while Janet Chin will be

  joining re-elected board member Henry Lo

  in the Garvey District.

  LECTURES IN ROSEMEAD

  A two-part series on recent archeology

  efforts in Jerusalem is being hosted by

   The first of the three per school year annual

   Reading is Fundamental book distribution 

   efforts has begun, with Rosemead

   Kiwanians assisting with reading and

   distribution throughout the Garvey and

   Rosemead districts.

  A public discussion of the possible extension

  of the East Los Angeles Gold Line is slated

  for November 14 in Rosemead, Details at the

  NA MEETINGS AT GRACE CHAPEL   

   A 6:00 Saturday evening weekly meeting of

   Narcotics Anonymous in Rosemead has

   begun at Grace Chapel. An article including

   the involvement of Kiwanis Network

   involvement in getting this activity started
